Contemporary abstract drawing, mark making, printmaking, lettering, words and graphic art.

Welcome to Four Letter Studio, the creative practice of UK artist Carl Jones. Specialising in contemporary abstract drawing, experimental printmaking and expressive lettering art, Carl creates bold, intricate compositions that combine structure with flowing creativity. Every piece is a one-off original artwork — never a reproduction or digital print. If you’re looking for unique abstract art in the UK, hand-drawn graphic artwork, or original printmaking with personality, Four Letter Studio offers something truly individual.

Carl believes that language carries rhythm and emotion: 'What do I see? I see books, libraries. Buildings, architecture. I see people. Music, vinyl records. I hear the repetitive beat of a drum, the sound of a synthesiser. And I see words. This all inspires my art and what I print, draw and create. And I'm a great believer that non-aggressive swearing is good for mental wellbeing'.

Original Abstract Art & Experimental Printmaking

Carl Jones creates contemporary abstract art using:

  • Experimental printmaking
  • Letterpress techniques
  • Linocut printing
  • Fineliner pens
  • Sharpies and marker pens

Each artwork evolves through mark making, repetition and rhythm — blending graphic precision with spontaneous energy. The result is modern black and white art that feels both architectural and expressive.

All works are original pieces, created by hand in the studio. No copies. No mass production. Just authentic, one-off abstract artwork.
